Event Details

Join Senior Pastor Marty Grubbs and Pastor of Worship Larry Harrison for Heritage of the Hymns tour in the United Kingdom! During this incredible tour, you will discover the inspiration behind the writing and legacies of the Wesley brothers, John Newton, Isaac Watts, and others.


DAY 1 – Tuesday, May 31, 2022 - USA / LONDON

Overnight flight from the USA to London. Meals and beverages served in flight.

DAY 2 - Wednesday, June 1, 2022 - LONDON / BRISTOL

After late morning arrival, you’ll travel to one of the most famous landmarks in the United Kingdom, the World Heritage Site of Stonehenge. You will have the opportunity to learn the long history of the infamous stones that make up Stonehenge in this 20-minute, round-trip bus journey to and from the Stone Circle. Continue to Bristol for dinner and overnight.

DAY 3 - Thursday, June 2, 2022 - BRISTOL

Today sightseeing is of the Bristol area. Your tour will include the New Room built in 1739 by John Wesley, the oldest Methodist Church in the world. There will be an opportunity for an informal performance there. You will also get to visit Charles Wesley’s home and the Charles and John Wesley Museum. See Hanham Mount where George Whitefield and John Wesley preached to the local mining community from 1739. It was one of their earliest open-air preaching locations. Your choir will perform a formal evening concert in Bristol at a local Methodist Church. Dinner and overnight in Bristol.


Travel through one of Britain’s most spectacular landmarks, Cheddar Gorge, and stop at the rock outcropping which inspired Augustus Toplady to write Rock of Ages in the 1700s. Continue to Stourport-on-Severn and the Astley Church where Frances Ridley Havergal was born and where she wrote “Take My Life and Let It Be” among hundreds of others. Dinner on own and overnight stay in Stratford-upon-Avon.

DAY 5 - Saturday, June 4, 2022 - STRATFORD-UPON-AVON

It is a literary day to honor England’s greatest poet and playwright William Shakespeare. Visit Stratford-upon Avon, a market town with more than 800 years of history. Set in the beautiful rural Warwickshire countryside, on the banks of the river Avon, it is one of the most important tourist destinations in the United Kingdom. See Shakespeare’s birthplace, the Holy Trinity Church where he is buried, and Anne Hathaway’s Cottage (wife of Shakespeare). Evening transfer to Epworth area for dinner and overnight.

DAY 6 - Sunday, June 5, 2022 - EPWORTH

After breakfast, enjoy a sightseeing tour in Epworth. Your visit will include the Old Rectory. Samuel Wesley, Rector of the parish of St. Andrew in the 18th century, raised sons John and Charles here along with his other children. You will also visit the Wesley Memorial Church and have an informal performance there. Formal evening concert in Epworth area at a local Methodist Church. Dinner and overnight in the Epworth area.

DAY 7 - Monday, June 6, 2022 - EPWORTH / OLNEY / CAMBRIDGE / LONDON

Travel to Olney to visit the Cowper and Newton Museum, highlighting William Cowper, English Poet and hymnodist who penned “There Is a Fountain,” and John Newton who penned “Amazing Grace” and “Glorious Things of Thee are Spoken.” The Museum has beautiful gardens and an 18th Century summerhouse. We also visit the church where John Newton was minister. You will continue to Stoneyard Baptist Church, Cambridge where Robert Robinson famously wrote “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing.” Travel to London for dinner on own and overnight stay.

DAY 8 – Tuesday, June 7, 2022 - LONDON

It’s a full day tour as you visit Bunhill Fields Cemetery, the burial place of Isaac Watts who wrote “O God, Our Help in Ages Past,” “Joy to the World,” and many more. Then travel across the street to John Wesley’s Chapel, House, and Gravesite. You will see the Flame Monument at Aldersgate Street, where it is said that John Wesley had his conversion. Lunch and shopping time at Borough Market. Formal concert this afternoon at Southwark Cathedral (or similar). Free time until dinner and overnight in London.

DAY 9 – Wednesday, June 8, 2022 - LONDON / OXFORD / LONDON

This morning, you will journey to Oxford, known for its architecture and universities. Your guided tour will include Christ Church Cathedral, located inside one of the colleges of the University of Oxford. Known as the smallest cathedral in England, it has had a choir since 1526. The campus has been used for filming several major movies, including the Harry Potter series. The Wesley Memorial Room at Lincoln College will be included in your tour of Oxford. Return to London for a dinner cruise to admire London’s Iconic landmarks and spectacular skyline from the historic river Thames. Overnight in London.

DAY 10 – Thursday, June 9, 2022 - LONDON

Today is a full day at leisure to explore London on your own. Dinner on your own. Overnight in London.

OPTIONAL EXCURSION: Spend the day at the iconic Highclere Castle where Downton Abbey was filmed. Please note: the cost of this excursion is not included in the package and will be an additional cost. Overnight in London.

DAY 11 - Friday, June 10, 2022 - LONDON / USA

Transfer to the airport for a return flight to the USA.


Heritage of the Hymns tour is $4,045 per person (based on double occupancy). This cost includes:
